“A fire is burning in Bird Spirit Land. My bones smoulder. I must journey there.”
(Lavondyss, Robert Holdstock)

I am a devotional polytheist, animist, mystic, spirit-worker and mantis (diviner) living at the edge of a swamp within the spiritually potent landscape of wood, water and stone in western Maine, not far from where I was raised and where I made my first conscious connections to the divine.

I have studied extensively and hold a degree in Comparative Myth and Ritual, but I value direct experience and practice above all else. I write poems and prayers, create art for the gods and spirits, and craft many of my own ritual tools, but my most important sacred offerings are also the most fundamental and archaic: blood, pure water, breath, song, smoke, and rich, dark earth.

Dionysos owns my heart foremost, and I also keep shrines to Odin, Nerthus, and Hermes, among others. I honor the many beautiful and powerful Places and Persons with whom I share this corner of the world.

I have pulled back as much as possible from the internet in recent years, in order to avoid its miasma and focus my attention on the here and now, the land around me and, of course, the gods and spirits. However, for now I am keeping this static website active, and I may release various writings and projects in the future. If you would like to receive a very occasional newsletter from me regarding my spiritual and artistic explorations, including upcoming divination and oracular work, please submit your email address below and I will add you to my list.

Thank you for your response. ✨

If you wish to communicate more directly, I am always interested in discussing spiritual matters with like-minded others, and may be able to offer some guidance or advice if needed (as I’ve been on this path for 30 years now). You can contact me at dver atbirdspiritland dotcom, though be aware that my responses may be extremely slow by current standards.
